FAQ

What hardware do I need?

Android device running Android 14 or newer and an FTMS-compatible smart trainer.

ERG vs SIM — what’s the difference?

ERG mode will make the trainer hold a specific set wattage (set by you or the workout); SIM mode allows you to control intensity by changing your cadence, or gears on the bike, while also allowing you to set a road grade.

Where are my workout files saved?

Each workout, once it is finished, lands at Documents/Workout/<timestamp>.fit. You can also always access it from the workout history screen and share it to any other application.

My trainer dropped mid-workout — did I lose my data?

The app will attempt to reconnect to any/all the devices that have disconnected multiple times. You should pause the workout and wait for reconnection, or if that fails, reboot the device and attempt to reconnect via the pairing screen, during the workout.

What happens if the app or the phone crashes during a workout?

Any in-flight workout is safe and stored on your device. On next launch, the home screen will have a “Resume” card allowing you to continue.

How do I share a .fit file?

Open the History screen, select the workout and use the Share button.

How do I share diagnostic logs for a bug report?

Open the Pairing screen, and you will find a Diagnostics block there. Tap “Share logs” and send it over to us.

Does the app need an internet connection or a user account?

No. The app does not declare the INTERNET permission, has no sign-up, no accounts, no cloud sync, and no remote servers. It works entirely on-device.

I’m not seeing my trainer when I scan — what should I check?

Check if your trainer is powered on and is in pairing mode (there might be some LED indicator). Some trainers will not show up if they are currently connected to a different application

Which services accept the exported files?

The app writes standard Garmin .fit files, which are accepted by most training platforms - intervals.icu, Strava, TrainingPeaks, and others. Share the file to them from the History screen, or upload it yourself from wherever it lands in Documents/Workout/.

Can I import my own workouts?

Yes. Tap the “+” on the Workouts screen and pick any standard .zwo file. Imported workouts appear above the bundled library.

What is the easiest flow to handle structured workouts?

intervals.icu can be set up to push workouts to Dropbox, and also pick up workout files from Dropbox. On overtrain, you can import the workout directly from your Dropbox account (as long as you have the app), and share it with Dropbox after you are done.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Drop us an email at hi@overtrain.bike. Your hardware, and logs from the application are very helpful.
